Potty Training

Ugh! DS is 3. He will be 4 in April. I feel like he's the only kid to that is not potty trained yet. The boy can still sit in a wet or poopy diaper and have no issue. I try bribing and everything, nothing works. Half the time, he refuses to even sit on the potty. If I put underwear on he has no problem going in it. Any help or advise?

Thanks

I sound like a broken record, but we did the 3 day potty training a week ago from today and I swear by it! You need to be consistent and persistent, but he will get it. It is a lot of work, but worth it when it is over. GL.

Re: Potty Training

Hang in there! DS is 3.5 and just trained a couple of weeks ago. He wanted nothing to do with it before then, no matter how hard we tried. It was stressful for us and him.

Finally we said ok no more diapers. We knew he could do it he just needed the push and this time it worked.

He'll get it. My mom used to tell me "he's not going to college in diapers!" I know it can be hard. Chat Icon

ITA - DS was 3y4m when we did it - he had started asking for his diaper to be changed each time he was wet/pooped about a week or two before we started and had been waking up dry so I know he just needed the push. I waited until we had a free weekend and went with it. The first day was all accidents but, he went to the potty (pee) the next morning and it just clicked (he has had a couple of pee accidents but, mostly due to timing). Number 2 took a little longer and he still occasionally has accidents (it seems to be every other month when he's either tired or out of his element).

I felt the same way as you did though so I totally understand. Chat Icon

Re: Potty Training

Thank you all for the support. I'm actually reading the 3 day potty book right now. It is so hard, both my husband and I work full time and I usually run errands after work, by the time we get home, it's dinner, bath and bedtime. I'm going to take a day off and dedicate to full three days and load up on prizes and stickers.
