Potty Training - Where do I even begin with this?

Hey All!

Gianna just turned 2 in January, and I'm starting to get in the potty training mindset. I've heard that you're not supposed to push kids to do this, and I'm not sure if that's true or not, but this leaves me with so many questions.

About 6 mos ago, I bought a potty and I've had it in the bathroom for G to see. She sits on it and she's starting to become aware of when her diaper needs to be changed.

How do I start training with her? Am I on the right track with waiting her out, or are there things I should be doing to get her ready?

As always, THANKS for your advice!!!

Re: Potty Training - Where do I even begin with this?

DD was also born in Jan. i had a potty in the house from about 15-16m.
I didnt start to potty train until june when she was almost 2.5 though on the advice of her sitter since its too hard with snowpants and it being winter.
once June came i asked her one day if she wanted big girl undies, she said yes. she had a few pee accidents the first week but then did fine...poop was a few weeks but she got the hang of that with rewards and clapping and cheering!

DD is 2 1/2 and she had a potty seat since 2. I would say it took about 6 months for her to get comfortable with it and then once she started training and wearing underwear it was about a week of accidents now she is trained . She still wears diapers at night but wakes up dry so I may change her to underwear at night Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have to say once she was trained I was so proud of myself and her of course lol! I just thought it would be such a daunting task but she did it so well!!

DS is 20 months & has been taking an interest b/c big sis has been working on training (for 7 months Chat Icon ). He now holds himself & will run to the bathroom. We've been putting him on when he runs there, but not pushing the issue.
