I don't even want to read the article... I'll do it after lunch because I don't want to lose my appetite.
I just want to say that to this day I remember when my mom sat down on my bed and told me never to keep secrets from her, no matter who says them, AND SHE NAMED HER OWN BROTHERS as examples, mentioned strangers... she said no matter what they said, if they threatened to hurt me, hurt my mom, hurt my dad...
I think I was 5 or 6 at the time (it was the 70s, people still didn't talk about "these things"). I had a nightmare about that conversation, but you know what? I was safer for it. If you knew me, if you knew my mother... she's made so many mistakes with her parenting decisions. But this was not one of them and 30 years later, I'm still grateful that she taught me that the boogeyman sometimes has a familiar face.

What a horrible story, and how brave she is for writing it. Thank you for posting here - and for Concerned ANON for bringing this topic to the front of our minds. As parents, we need to be aware of these things, no matter how disgusting they are. We have to keep our kids safe no matter what.
