We are re-doing ours and can't decided if i want to put a bar down there or not, We have a baby on the way and a few more to come, so i dunno if its worth it. b/c soon the kids will take over the basement.

Re: Post your basements

My girlfriend has 2 little girls and has a bar downstairs. She still entertains a lot and it goes to good use.

Now for OUR family... I don't drink too much anymore and DH doesn't drink at all anymore. We converted the entire basement into a playroom for our sons.

I guess it depends on what your lifestyle is and how you plan it to be after the baby is born!

I would suggest that if you DO the bar thing... make sure you childproof it anyway. Cause the little one will probably be down there enough to warrant it anyway!

I know that isn't much help - but Chat Icon

This is our basement. I specifically re did it so that we could use it as a playroom for the kids. I put in the cabinets so that we have storage space for all the toys.

I think I would gear it more towards making the space more family friendly. A place for the children when they get older and something for you and your DH to use now.

A bar is a nice novelty but I could never see myself brining things down to the basement while entertaining, plus I would be to lazy to do itChat Icon .

Re: Post your basements

We have a finished basement, that is in the process of being refinished (we had to rip it apart to put a french drain system and sump pump in). As soon as it's completed and put back together, I'll share pictures.
