Post pics of gardens
From previous years is fine. This is my first spring andI am so excited to start adding color! I would like to see some ideas. Also, I know impatients are shade loving plants. The area were I would like to plant is shady from morning until about 2-3. Is this a bad idea. What are some annuals that are good for that sun exposure? Thanks

Believe it or not, if you get less than 6 hours of direct sunlight (not dappled through trees), you would do better with shade plants. Everyone is going to get tired of me posting the same picture  but this is my shade bed last season:
In that bed are Wood Ferns, Japanese Painted Ferns, Lady Ferns, two types of Columbine, three types of Astilbe, Lady's Mantle, three kids of Heuchera, and Japanese Forest Grass.
A longer view:
The mulch is weird because we didn't have enough to fill the area at the time. On the left is a new bed that has all of the same plants I listed above and also Brunnera and Hosta.
The 2nd and 3rd year plants are growing like CRAZY now. I can't believe how big they are, and it's the first week of May. The kinds I listed like part/full shade and don't like to dry out.
On that side I also have Rose of Sharon because I think they will grow anywhere!
