Post partum stomach upset?
I'm not sure this is necessarily pregnancy/baby related - although it's going to be TMI! - but I've had a dodgy stomach/the runs for nearly two days now. I can't attribute it to anything I've eaten. It's kind of painful and when I have to go, I have to go NOW I was wondering if it might be related to my body trying to get back to normal - intestines rearranging themselves, etc...
Anyone else? It's horrible and yesterday when I was on my own, I was having to leave the baby on his own sometimes crying because I had to go so badly

Re: Post partum stomach upset?
I had a lot of stomach issues after DS was born. Just very sensitive, had to go to the bathroom all the time, was painful when going, etc. I made an appointment with a gastro dr and she said that its a normal party of giving birth and my body adjusting. After a while things started to go back to normal but it took a while. I'd say I was feeling good again around 6 months.

Re: Post partum stomach upset?
Are you taking Colace? Here they told me to take Colace for the first month of so because of the stitches (it's a stool softenener), but I think it made me go too much/often, so I decreased the dose...But I've definitely had to leave DS crying when it's an emergency!

Not to be gross, but I had the runs for about a month post partum. It eventually subsided, but it was awful!

Re: Post partum stomach upset?
I have been having some similar stomach issues too (diarrhea at times, sharp cramps, urgency, etc). I had to leave my baby crying to go to the bathroom too. I had a c-section, so didn't know if it was from that. My doctor said no and that I may have picked up a bug at the hospital. It's been getting better though. I'm almost 2 months pp.

Re: Post partum stomach upset?
i haven't had bathroom issues, but i find that i can't eat a full meal without feeling like i'm going to vomit. I can pick and eat little things, but if i sit and eat a whole meal, i'm burping and nauseous all night. I feel like i'm pg again!

No runs, but definitely more regular (I've always been quite irregular) and I seem to have turned into DH and CONSTANTLY pass gas!!

Re: Post partum stomach upset?
I've had issues as well. I actually had to get an abdominal ultrasound because of intense heartburn that lasted for days. The Dr said once you go through a pregnancy your stomach may never go back to normal

Re: Post partum stomach upset?
I remember feeling this way a few weeks after giving birth. It turned out okay and helped my body go back to normal.

Re: Post partum stomach upset?
I had issues as well. Mine turned out to be a condition called C-Dif (not sure if that's the spelling, but that's how it is said.) Anyway it is a very common GI infection caught in a hospital. I didn't go to the doctor for 3 weeks thinking it was normal and needed an antibotic, but it can go away on its own if you are willing to stick it out (I eventually lost control if you KWIM)
It may not hurt to have your stool tested to see if you can get relief faster.
