Post partum depression and anxiety

I'm 3 months post partum. All of a sudden for the past 2 weeks, I've been really down and anxious. I just stopped the mini pill that my OB prescribed. I was on it for a month. In case the anxiety wasn't caused by the pill (meaning if it doesn't go away), I will ask my OB for medication.

My questions are: Can an OB prescribe anti anxiety meds or do I need a psychiatrist? Also, for those who went on meds- what meds are ok with breastfeeding and what are the side effects? I know some cause weight gain and I'm trying to avoid gaining more than 10 lbs.

Ob can prescribe, but it's better to go to a therapist to give another way to deal with the anxiety and depression.

I'm on Zoloft. It's ok for breastfeeding, but I'm neurotic (queue the anxiety) so I took it right before I went to bed so it was out of my system by the morning when I had to nurse again.

My OB was able to prescribe a 30 day supply but after that I had to go see either my regular doctor or a psychiatrist in order to continue to get it.
