Possible ear infection?
I called the nurse line at the dr to ask some questions and when they called back the nurse said we should bring DD in to check her ears as she may have an ear infection. DH, DS and I have all been sick with the same symptoms of stuffy nose, cough and congestion. Is it possible for us to just have a cold but for DD to have an ear infection? She has been super fussy, very difficult to get to sleep, stuffy nose and wet cough.

Re: Possible ear infection?
Definitely possible. The ear infection isn't the contagious part, it's just a consequence of a child having fluid in their ear canals from having a cold or other illness. We all can have a cold, but my DC inevitably ends up with an ear infection and we just have a regular cold. (at least that's my understanding of how it works. I'm not a MD but my kid has had 10+ ear infections in the last couple of years)

Definitely possible!! ( Im a speech therapist and had a couple classes in audiology... PLUS i had tubes twice as a kid bc of ear infections, AND had surgery last year for a cyst that grew in my ear, bc of all the ear infections...) The nose, throat and ears are all connected. so the congestion, mucus, fluid, whatever can settle in your ears and cause an ear infection. definitely good to get her checked out hope you all feel better!!!

Yes - when my younger son is congested, it almost always leads to an ear infection. They aren't contagious and you don't necessarily have a fever. My son is 4.5 and his ears don't even hurt him when they are infected - he just turns into the most miserable person to be around ever.

Yep. Last year my girls got hit with their first really bad colds. Dd1 ended up with a sinus infection and dd2 embed up with an ear infection. Dh and I both had regular colds.

Re: Possible ear infection?
Yes, it's possible. You blow your nose to clear out your head. A baby can't do that. Babies get ear infections fairly easily, between colds and teething!
