Portable Washing Machine??
Does anybody have any experience with a portable washing machine? I live in an apartment and hate going to the laundry room! Plus it would be so nice to just be able to stick a few items in at night if I need to. Anybody know anything about them? Thanks!

Re: Portable Washing Machine??
we bought one from haier...don't do it!! It broke and flooded our (rented) kitchen and then took 3 months for them to ship out new one and that one is broken right out of box it doesn't spin cycle and we had to buy a replacement hose to sink... send out your laundry or do it in laundry room, this portable worked for like 3 months then has made our lives hellish since then

Re: Portable Washing Machine??
I had a great one. It was basically a regular washing machine that had wheels on the bottom and had an attachement hose for the sink faucet. It drained down the sink. Someone told me to make sure to usae a strainer so that the sink would not clog with lint. It worked for me. I only hads to wheel my machine a few feet to hook it up. It dried better than a real washing machine would and then I hung dry the clothes. I never used it for everything, though. At first I used it to lighten the load that I had to take to the laundry room but eventually I started to send out the majority of my laundry and I used my machine for anything delicate and anything that I could hang dry. I didn't like the way it look int my apartment but it was a tradeoff.
Now they make some very small hand crank machines that you can use for a few small things. They look interesting to me because I do anything to avoid going into my basement . I did not want a house with laundry in the basement but we loved everything else about this house so I caved.
I will let you know if I can find out what brand my machine was. ETA: it was a Kenmore from Sears.
I was not supposed to have it but my super didn't care. I had handymen from the complex in and out and no one really cared that I had it. I just gave nice tips when they did work for me or at the holidays.

Portable Washing Machine??
The tenant upstairs from me in my old apt had one. When it was on spin it felt like someone was jack hammering up there. Please do not do it to your neighbors. I had to complain to the LL to make it stop

Nobody is below us so that wouldn't be a problem.

Re: Portable Washing Machine??
Mine was a lot quieter than the one I have now in my house. It didn't seme to shake. It may also depend where you have to put it. I was on the ground floor in my apartment but I don't think that the one I had would have caused an issue.

I had one in my apt in college. It was awesome until we moved and could no longer have it anymore!

I had a Haier from Walmart and the dryer as well. Mine didn't shake and I never had issues with it. Total lifesaver!
