Popped out a RIB!
I posted about a week ago that I thought I had bronchitis. Well, I decided it was a cold and I'd treat it with tea and OJ - why start taking medicine at this point in the pregnancy?!
So last Monday I had a coughing fit and hurt my side. I thought I pulled a muscle. It hurt all week and I kept thinking it was the muscle. By Thursday it was so bad I had to sleep sitting totally upright and could barely breathe let alone cough, the pain has brought me to tears several times. So I saw the doctor and they put me on Amoxicillin. Then I saw a physical therapist yesterday and found out I popped out a rib! No wonder it hurts so much.
Now I have to stop my prenatal muscle definition and yoga classes. Only three weeks to go and this happens! I had been doing so well and now I'm so bummed. I feel so helpless and we still have so much to do to get ready for  !

Thanks! It means it came out of place. With all of the Relaxin hormone in our bodies our joints and bones are looser than normal, plus with this huge belly pushing all my organs up there isn't enough room for my lungs to expand with this awful cough. So the rib moved out of place and got stuck. The physical therapist said when she felt them the muscles inbetween the ribs in that whole section were inflamed and swollen and it felt like a rib was missing. She then massaged and did soft tissue work on that area for 20+ minutes to "calm the area down." At that point she could feel the rib stuck inwards and had to do work with my lat muscles and realigned the rib. When I cough I now have to brace myself with my hands. She said it will most likely keep happening until the cough subsides so I have to back tomorrow so she can fix it again. It is so painful!!

OMG! I can't even imagine, I'm getting grossed out just reading your post, I would freak out if I could feel a rib out of place  I hope it doesn't keep happening, and that your cough goes away!!

Thanks everyone!
I saw the physical therapist again this morning and the rib was out again. She also said the muscle is torn near the rib. Between the coughing and the fact that 's foot is continually kicking it doesn't help. I can't sleep at night so work is so tough right now!
