If he is teething badly, I would give Tylenol and put Baby Orajel on his gums. My DDs never responded to the teething tablets. Chat Icon

Motrin combined with teething tabs. I didn't use orajel until they were about 16 mos because of the choking issue.

Her DS is 4 months. Can't do Motrin yet. Chat Icon I've used Orajel with both of my DDs and never had a choking issue. Chat Icon

Gum-oile works best for us with the teething tabs. It's a natural analgesic.

Talk to your ped about this because Motrin/Ibuprofen is okay by some to use as early as 2m.

Dr. Sears about Ibuprophen

Ibuprofen treats the inflammation of teething better than acetaminophen.

yikes, I just checked and its almond based

this is great, but could cause a reaction in babies who may be allergic, I'd be nervous to try it to be honest, till DS was a little older

I don't even know when you are supposed to introduce nuts, but I think its late in the game.

my ped says benedryl is also very good b/c it reduces the swelling and helps them sleep.

Most pediatricians do not advocate Motrin/Ibuprofen use before 6 months. It is a lot harder on younger DCs' stomachs. Hope DS is feeling better and was able to sleep! Chat Icon

I would love to know more about this. I discussed this with my ped too, he said there is nothing in benedryl that will actually reduce swelling, its like an old wives tale. People thinks its works because it just knocks them out.

Did he give you any articles or references to information or anything like that?

Other- ibuprofen... although I don't know how old your DC - you can't use that until 6 months.

You're correct. Almonds are the least allergenic out the the nuts. Our ped gave us the go ahead since niether one of us has nut allergies. DD is still BF but if I was going to wean her @ 12 mos almond milk was her suggestion. Obviously check with ped first everyone is different. You can alway get plain clove oil and mix with a different base.
