Re: Poll.. regarding inheritance

I am the oldest DAUGHTER in an Italian family

and my brothers wife is wearing my grandma's ring

I would have liked it but my Grandma offered it to him

he gets everything handed to him- but that comes with being the SON in an italian family IMHO

ITA! i married into a 100% italian family and DH is 2nd oldest but got married before his sister. MIL offered us DH's grandparents wedding rings and not SIL who is older. MIL said it has to stay with "the name" so SIL gets nothing. i think thats kinda mean but i guess thats the way they do things.

in my family, i get most of my grandmothers big stuff because of her 32 grandchildren, i'm the only one named after her. i was the only one she had a picture of on her desk, which could've made things awkward but i think all of the cousins and siblings understood why.

Re: Poll.. regarding inheritance

I got the jewelry from my grandmother but my uncle(her son) got the money-- 100% italian family... i could have used the latter more being that
1. i have my own wedding ring already
2. the jewelry sits in a safe deposit box untouched becuase Im too afraid to wear it and lose it.

oh well- I cant complain. At least I was left something. Myy brother wasnt.

Re: Poll.. regarding inheritance

I'm the oldest granddaughter on both sides, and my mother's only daughter. But I don't think I "deserve" anything more than my brothers or cousins. My grandparents and parents have split everything evenly so that when the time comes we will all get the same amount.

Re: Poll.. regarding inheritance

I am number 2 grandchild on my mother's side of the family. My grandmothe over the years has given the grandchildren many of her jewelry pieces. She always told us all the jewelry is sitting in her box and what good is it in there. So she gave us many of her stuff to enjoy now instead of when her eyes are closed. As for the bigger items such as her house, stocks, etc....that is something that will be divided among her 4 childen. (my mother is the baby)

I am my parents only so I get it all. Their are some things my mom has already given me because these things are just sitting in the safe and it's going to be mine anyway.

On my father's side I was the only grandchild until I was 11. Since I was the only grandchild for so long they had in their wills their things that were to go directly to me. When my cousin (male) was born the only revision they did was they wrote his name in the will. Everything for me stayed the same. My grandmother left me her Passover crystal, her wedding band and my grandfather left me his original Lynel Trains Chat Icon

I think age should not have a determination. I think if you want to leave something to someone you should regardless where they are in order of birth or sex

Re: Poll.. regarding inheritance

I am the youngest grandchild, and youngest child. So I guess that means I get nothing! So I voted for the (birth order doesn't matter).

Re: Poll.. regarding inheritance

my brother and I have both discussed what we wanted and that's what's in the will. I want mom's ring he wants the diamond heart. they both have significance to us.

I don't think it should matter who was born first.
