You are welcome. Actually I do not see it as masculine. It is a very unique name which I love. Moreover, it is not popular which is good.

Very pretty name. I like Makayla Shay...I would just see people mispronouncing it spelled Michaela, but I could be wrong!!
And if you & DH are Mets fans, it would be cute to spell it Shea

I think if you want it prounced like Michael with an "A" then it would be best to stick to the traditional spelling. JMO.
I know, as a teacher, kids with non-traditional spelings are often annoyed when noone knoes how to spell or pronounced their name correctly. It also gets a bit crazy in the classroom when you have 4 kids with the same name and completely different spellings.

Back to your question...I would choose Makayla Shay.... With Shea, I could see people sometimes pronouncing it she - a.
