polite men ride the #6 and #7 trains!

In light of the "nobody gives up their seats on the NYC subway to pregnant women" threads - I had to share my experience today:

I get on the subway (#7) heading to Grand Central Station - I only have to go one stop and the train is crowded, so I enter and stand by one of the center aisle poles. Immediately a young man (looked like he was early 20s) jumps up and offers me his seat. I thanked him but said I didnt need it, as I was only going one stop.

Get to GCP and change to #6, walk on to crowded train and 3 high school age students (at least that's how old they looked) jump out of their seats and say "mamn, would like a seat?" I thank them and sit down and an elderly woman across the aisle told them that they were examples of what polite behavior is.

Get off #6 and go to doctor - on the way back to the subway I stop in a Borders bookstore and the doorman says to me on my way out "have a great day and god bless your baby on the way!"

Then I walk to 5th and 42nd to get on the #7 train to go home and there are plenty of seats available. I sit down and a middle aged construction worker is sitting across from me and says "congratulations mamn - I hope you're feeling ok and are taking it easy."

So stick to the #6 and #7 - the men are so pleasant!Chat Icon

Yes, I got offered a seat on the 7 train shortly after this thread appeared, and I'm not even visibly pregnant yet!

It was amazing--I did take it because I was exhausted. That may be why he offered.
