pneumonia at age 75?

My dad has been sick for a long time. Neuropathy, kidney failure, heart disease, etc. He is 75 and 6'3 weighing about 160. He recently stopped eating and talking crazy. Weird stuff. My mom took him to the hospital today. He has pneumonia. I heard pneumonia is bad if you are older. Should I be worried, more so than I am already? Can he recover????

Yes he can recover- mine had it last month. Your dad sounds exactly like mine at age 76

Hopefully it's bacterial and he'll respond to abs right away. He can definitely recover! Prayers!

Thank you ladies! We are living with my parents right now. It's very hard seeing him so weak and deteriorating.

He can recover. My 82 year old grandfather had it last month, was in the hospital for 2 days, and postponed his Florida trip only by 2 weeks. By the following weekend he didn't even have a cough. Hope he gets better fast!

My DH's 90 year old grandfather just had pneumonia last week. He was in the hospital for a couple days but now he's home and doing much better.

I'm at the hospital with my dad right now and he has pneumonia. They found emphysema, and a slew of other things. Not exactly the same, but just wanted to send some . It's scary to see them like this.
