Plus sized ladies....I need help!
I need TWO dresses....one more fancy than the other (they are for wedding dinner celebrations, not exactly weddings). Even though they are with totally different people I can't wear the same dress because of the proximity of the dates...
My criteria is: it has to be long, not to the floor but at least to the ankle since most of my plus sized-ness is in my legs. I would also like some of a sleeve (shoulder or whatever) but I don't mind wearing a shawl/wrap.
Also - I can't buy this online - I need to try on in a store! 
Any help? I was going to go to Macys but I just glanced at the site and there are only 2 dresses that are long enough for me and they are very Barbara Bush-like.

Lord n Taylor always has a great selection.
Have you considered a black tailored suit with open toe heels and a glitzy cami?
Do you have an old bridesmaid dress that can be dyed black? I may do this for an upcoming black tie affair.

Dress barn woman might have something and I find Macy's Herald Square to have a better selection than the website or the smaller stores.

Last time I was at Estelle's they had really nice plus sized stuff. I actually had to decide between 4 different ones!

I was just going to suggest this. I bought something for a formal Bat Mitzvah there, it was perfect and not too expensive.

Thank you ladies! I am going to hit up Estelles this weekend and if I dont get anything I will head over to the mall I guess and check out the dept stores. I am probably going to get ambushed by prom kiddies  at Estelles but I will be brave!
