plus size - need tips for keeping weight gain down
I need help for how to keep my weight gain down. I had a bad spiral this past year right before I got pg.
Any tips, on eating, snack suggestions that would fullfill sugar cravings?
Would it help to ask my dr about the gestational diabetes food plan?
Exercise? I wasn't really doing it before, should I do some walking to get my legs moving? arm exercises?

Re: plus size - need tips for keeping weight gain down
I am 33 weeks..only up 6 pounds..baby developing great. I was so scared for health reasons that I would gain so much since I was already overweight. It motivated me to eat the healthiest I ever had. I eat lean meats lots of veggies/light cheeses/ nuts and whole grains. I pretty much followed a GD plan.. I also met with a nutritionist once during my first trimester to help me start off on the right foot.
Believe me there were times I went off, especially around the holidays.. Good luck! There is no reason to eat for two..and you will feel much better with less weight on! Good luck.

Re: plus size - need tips for keeping weight gain down
From the what to expect series there is a book Eating Well While Expecting. There's a lot of good advice and a recommended exchange based diet which I've also seen on the bump
Link
I also bought a prenatal workout video which changes the routine each trimester. And I've been walking.
I snack on nuts and fruits. Berries have been great for night time snacking. And I try to sip water constantly.
It's still early on for me though but I've been doing ok.

Re: plus size - need tips for keeping weight gain down
i try to do 3 meals a day with 1-2 snack depending on how hungry i am. Lots of water. I started out overweight as well, and have gained some weight, but respectable still. I watch teh junk foods. Occ i will indulge, but ultimately there is no late night snacking adn i stop eating at like 6 or 7 depending on dinner time. good luck..

With DS#1 I gained 22pounds, starting weight 188.
