Pls help me set expectations regarding first RE appt
I have my very first RE appointment with Dr Brenner today. I know he's going to do an exam and possibly some BW (i'm on CD4 of my cycle), but I guess I'm unclear about what else will happen. I know he wont have answers for me, but will they set us up for some kind of "treatment" right away? if not, about how long before that happens?
I know it'll depend upon the "what's wrong" factor, but i'm pretty sure that my issue is a LP defect. I pretty much fit the mold when you look it up online (I know, that's not the best place to get info and I shouldnt be diagnosing myself! but i just cant help myself!)
I'm hoping that it helps that I got pregnant on my once, but the first ended in a MC, then I got preggo with DD with the help of clomid.
I'm just looking for a reality check of what really I should expect in terms of process and timeframe...
I'm really anxious about it all, so any advice or experiences would be much appreciated!
TIA!

I didnt see Dr Brenner... but my first appt was only a consult. He ordered a slew of blood work and had to wait for all that to come back. THat took over a month. Then when i got AF next we were able to start.

Re: Pls help me set expectations regarding first RE appt
DH and I had a consult exactly a week before CD 3. So we had our consult and bloodwork done. DH did a SA about a week later.
My 2nd consult went much better than the first because it dealt less with "if....then" and much more with "this is what's happening, and this is what we're going to do."

Re: Pls help me set expectations regarding first RE appt
Our consult was just that- a consult. They do consults at night and blood/sonos in the morning at my RE's. So we just met with the dr to discuss what would happen. The dr. already had some bloodwork results that my gyn had done. She ordered more bloodwork to be done. We didn't start the first cycle until about 2 weeks later (when I was on CD3-5).

Re: Pls help me set expectations regarding first RE appt
the first appt i had with Dr. Brenner we went over DH and I past medical history. I previously had my obgyn fax over op report from a lap i had. So he went over all that stuff. I already had a DX so we discussed protocols right away. I had blood work, sono and a physical exam done by him. We also got scripts for tons of blood work that we needed to get done before starting any protocol

Re: Pls help me set expectations regarding first RE appt
thanks everyone!
So, like everyone, and like I expected...we got the consulation and then I had a full exam. I am going in tomorrow for an endometrial biopsy and then friday for an HSG. The took some blood, and are having me and DH do more at a lab. And of course DH was thrilled with the SA that he has to do. I have no sympathy considering! LOL
We did discuss a protocol, probably because we already have a DD (with the help of clomid) and I did get pregnant on my own (no meds) before I had my daughter. He's also giving me progesterone to help support my LP as it's pretty short, but will have an unmedicated cycle this go around. Provided all our tests come back OK, we'll move forward with clomid and IUI with progesterone next month!
I'm much more excited and less anxious now!
:)
