Please tell me about your Pediatrician ....

close to Massapequa.

I am researching pediatricians to interview before DS is born. So far, I have PROKIDS in Levitown and Pediatric Health Associates in Plainview.
Does anyone use them and have opinions?
If not, who do you use?
I haven't decided if we want a larger practice or a smaller (or solo practioner) so I would also like your opinions on that as well.
I would also love to hear things that you love about your ped - like they always call me back in 15 minutes, or they always see my DC within an hour, they have late hours, etc.

I live in Massapequa, but me ped is in Rockville Center. I didn't want to travel so far, but she's worth it. She was recommend by my OB - he brings his three daughters there and he (and his practice) delivered her three sons. Turns out she is also the cousin of one of my husband's best friends since childhood. Dr. Lisa Forgione. She is in practice with Dr. Peloso and Dr. Fusco. All women. I love that they are not a huge practice, but also love that there is more than one doctor there which allows for better hours. They have evening hours (until about 6 p.m.) and Saturday sick appointments. I love all three doctors and have seen them all, but for DS's well visits I always see Dr. Forgione. When he is sick, I see whoever is available. They are all great. They always call back the same day with questions. Usually after hours if it is a general question, but they call back very soon if it's something more urgent or the receptionist will ask the doctor while you hold and get right back to you with answer.

They are about 20 - 25 minutes from Massapequa, but in my opinion, well worth it.

I see Dr. Calma at Mid Island Pediatrics in Farmingdale and I love her. She has one parter, Lr. Larius (sp?) who I have never met. DH has and said he was fine.

They have evening and weekend hours. I never have a problem getting an appointment or them squeezing us in to meet my schedule. I've used their night service a couple of times and they always call back within 15 minutes. I love that.

I went to a previous Ped in Massapequa and had a horrible experience. I was referred to Dr. Calma by the nurses at my doctor's office. They all have kids and they all use Dr. Calma.

My MOH from my wedding lives in Massapequa and goes to Pediatric Health Assocaites. She can't say enough great things about them.

I live in Levittown (on the wantagh border) and I use Dr. Jeffrey Silverstein in Merrick. I love him because he is very laid back (as are DH and I) and does not prescribe medication unless absolutely necessary. He is there on Sunday - not Saturday, but has a great stand in. I never have trouble getting an appointment or getting in when necessary. Babies go right into the examination rooms and spend no time in waiting room. He is always running pretty close to on time. My friend who has a 12, 9 and 2 year old, as does my friend who has a 3 yr and 6 month old.

We use Dr. Silverstein in Merrick. While I don't feel his bedside manner is the best everything he said to do with DD when it came to any problems was always right on the money. He is easy to get an appt. with and his staff is wonderful. I'd reccomend him!
