Please share your 11 month old foods - also a milk question

DS just turned 11 months old. Should I start him on milk or wait until I get his pediatricians okay?

I have anxiety over feeding him anything more textured than his stage three textured foods since he almost choked on something more thick than that...

I want to feed him some of our chicken cutlet of course finely cut up, but still worried that he will choke.

I'm still feeding him with the spoon and he's grabbing it but he just plays with it and gets it all over instead of feeding himself.

I'm worried that I'm delaying him or not doing the right stuff.

Anyone have advice ? :(

We waited for the ped's ok at his 12 month appt to start milk. I'm sure you could call and ask them though for piece of mind.

Do you give him any regular table foods? Like bananas or other soft things like that? If you're not I'd start with those and then move to chicken. If you do those already, give the chicken a shot. Just do really really small pieces.

My DS seemed to gag on the stage 3 foods also, but did much better when he just has regular food in small pieces. I think he felt the soft texture and thought he could just swallow not realizing there were pieces in there.

And lastly, try not to stress too much. I had such food anxiety and in the end DS is a great eater!
