Please share feeding schedule for DC

DS is 5 months old. He eats 2 meals of oatmeal/fruit or veggie a day and also has bottles. I haven't put him on a schedule yet - he's always been feed on demand. I figured he'd fall into a schedule, but he hasn't.

I'm trying to get him on a schedule because he's been pushing his last bottle back to 9-10pm and then going to bed around 10:30. I want him to go down for the night around 8, so I need to push his last bottle earlier. I just want to get an idea of what other people are doing so I can have a guideline while trying to nail down a schedule for DS. Thanks!

DS is 5 months old, too, and we basically feed on demand. He likes to eat about every 3-4 hours and takes his last bottle around 9pm, going to bed at 9:30.

Is there a particular reason you want to push his bedtime up 2.5 hours? He might just naturally prefer a later bedtime, especially in the summer when it's light out until almost 9pm.

You can try pushing it up about 15 minutes every 3 or so days and see if it works. But personally, I prefer to go by DS's natural preferences.

DD is on a pretty good schedule. She usually takes 5 oz every 3 hours. She gets her cereal about an hour to an hour and a half after her morning bottle. She takes a few naps during the day that last between 30 min to an hour. Her last bottle is usually anywhere between 8 and 10.

He used to go to bed around 8. I don't know what changed that has made it so much later, but, while it's fine now, I need him to go to bed by 8-8:30 when I go back to work in September because I get up at 5am and I still have a lot to do after he goes to bed! We're going to CIO in a month to get him used to having a bedtime for when I go back to work. I don't want it to be a culture shock that his bedtime is going to be so much earlier. We've always been very laid back about schedules, but I want to straighten it all out while I'm off for the summer!

Gotcha. Makes sense. Then I'd try moving his bedtime up 15 minutes each night. But make sure you get all his bottles throughout the day in, so space them accordingly to the intended bedtime.

Re: Please share feeding schedule for DC

What time is his last nap of the day? I always struggle with DD's bedtime and I think it's because she is very awake and alert at night and her last nap is too late!

He varies with naps. He used to nap from 6:30-7 when he was going to bed at 8. Now, he gets really cranky and sometimes takes a nap around 7:30, which pushes bedtime back to 10ish. I've tried making the 7:30 nap his bedtime, but he wakes up around 11 if I put him down then and the rest of the night is a disaster!

Out of nowhere, he went down at 8pm last night and slept until 8:15 this morning with no wakeups! I hope he's moving his schedule back!
