Please recommend your washer & dryer
or tell me if you have one that I should avoid.
I don't even know where to start in looking for one so any advice is helpful.

We did extensive research before buying a washer. I wanted a very large capacity washer. Went back and fourth on top loader vs front loader. I ended up with a
LG 5.2 front loader with steam. I really didn't even care how quite it was but with the door to our laundry room shut you can't even hear it. This machine fits a LOT of clothes. I love that on a steam cycle the clothes come out less wet which means less time drying. It cleans so well and everything comes out smelling awesome.

Love my LG dryer.
my washer is older but our dryer went first so we just bought a new dryer.

Another vote for LG. We have the top loading washer and dryer. Another completely stupid benefit to LG appliances is that they play a lovely song once the cycle is over. (I don't know why, but I love that damn song!)
