Please recommend your DC's GI Dr - Nassau county
Looking for a pediatric GI recommendation for DD#2 who is going to be 2 moths old next week. Would prefer Nassau County.
Back story:
She has reflux and is super colicky /cranky. She started on Enfamil newborn which was a disaster after a week or so. Switched to gentlease and after another week she wasnt any less cranky. Switched to gerber protect and that was a nightmare. It made her constipated and miserable. Switched back to gentlease and dr added prevacid. Half a solutab a day. It's not covered by insurance because it is a "step 2" med. When I asked about zantac (which IS covered and would be literally 10 times cheaper) the dr told me it doeant work as well. Dd is still miserable (and therefore so am I) so I called the doctor again the other day. They had me switch her to Nutramigen. That has seemed to be working, she's a little less cranky and is having easier bowel movements but now her reflux is kicking up again. They told me to start giving a full solutab (15 Mg) I know that the medicine is weight based so I know why it needs to be increased but because it isn't covered by insurance and they won't change to zantac I think it's time to see a GI and get a specialist opinion.

Please recommend your DC's GI Dr - Nassau county
not nassau county, but we saw dr guevarra out of good sam pediatrics. DD is on axid 3 x daily and he put her on that for her reflux. it has helped tremendously. also dd is on nutramigen- we had to eventually switch to RTF as the powder made her have explosive bm's. good luck.

Please recommend your DC's GI Dr - Nassau county
We went to dr. Marciano for our late preemie twins. They both had reflux and had colic. He came highly recommended. Everything he told us to do helped. I actually like him better than my pediatrician. He was very easy to talk to and although the office is busy he actually listens to you when you talk. I never got the feeling of being rushed.
He is affiliated with Winthrop in Mineola. We drove from suffolk county to see him. He is part of a grouping of specialists which my sister also uses for my nieces asthma. The building is across the street from Winthrop hospital (not in the hospital)

DR Toba Weinstein. She is affiliated with LIJ Childrens Hopital and has another office in Commack. We have been to both... DS has been seeing her since he was a few weeks old for reflux and a milk protein/soy allergy.. He is now 3. She listens to what you are talking about and takes everything serious...

we saw Dr. Marciano - disliked him, had no bed side manner, said any thing we needed to talk to him about would have to go through his assistant and she would get back to me. said he was always open to emails, i emailed him and got 2 words responses back, call (assistant).
we than saw Dr Guavarra - loved him, took the time to talk to us, and not send us to his assistant.
DS has gastro problems due to his ASD

Wow, that is so completely the opposite of my experience with him. He never once told me to go through his assistant or shrugged us off in any way. Every visit he would remind me that I could always email him if I needed to. But I never had reason to.

My sister brought my nephew to a doctor here too, I don't remember the name. But she was happy w/ them
