Please recommend a bush...
something that is pretty and perhaps flowers but doesn't attract bees and other pests. we have some areas around our patio that we specifically left to fill in with something but I dont know what. it's pretty close to the patio so nothing that gets massive roots either.
I am just assuming someone on here knows a lot or a little more than I do about different bushes, bc I am clueless!
TIA!

I like hostas, ornamental grass and leyland cypress kinds... I have attached a pick that you can see how we worked some of them in. They are in the right of the pic, this is when we first planted. We have some against our home too, so they are fine to plant near the patio... Pick of course was before grass !!!

Dwarf azaleas!
They stay compact, flower in the spring, and there is foliage on it pretty much all year round.

Re: Please recommend a bush...
How many hours of sun does your patio get? Not everything can thrive in certain sun exposures. I get less than 4 hours of direct sun on my patio so I have these next to mine:
Columbine Huechera Hellebores Ferns (ghost, wood, autumn and japanese painted) Lady's Mantle Astilbe
None of them attract a lot of bees, and they're not really shrubs per se - they're just low growing plants.

Re: Please recommend a bush...
do you want it to stay year-round? How much sun does the area get?
Rhododendrons do very well in part sun/part shade and are year-round. Box woods also do well in similiar areas but do not flower, they're evergreens. We also have andromedas in the front yard and they're year round with flowers.
Hostas are great filler plants but die back each winter. Same with hydrangea, etc.
