please help...I need your expertise....(regarding dental stuff)

I have to have a wisdom tooth, and then not the tooth right before it, but the next one after that pulled. The wisdom tooth is impacted....and the other tooth is a tooth that I had a root canal on, but then chickened out when it came time to do the post (it was such a stupid, hugely dumb thing to not have it finished)....
anyway...the oral surgeon wants to do a bone graph in the area under the tooth (not the wisdom tooth), he said it's easier to do it when they remove the tooth, that way they don't have to go in twice....my insurance doesn't cover it, and not that's it all that expensive...but do I need it??? he says it's to keep the jaw/gum line nice and all uniform, etc...
I was curious if you ladies knew anything about it...

I have a problem with the same tooth as you, but they just did a root canal and I have a temp cap and will be going for my final cap next friday. They told me that if I did not do this, then all of my teeth would begin to shift out of alignment and could cause me to need another root canal in the furture because it would create an open space in my gums whereby bacteria could get in there and get infected. So the long and the short of it is that if I don't get the cap, then I would be candidate number one for another root canal; an experince I would not wish on my worst enemy.

I think that I'm going to pass on the bone graph thing...I really can't afford it...and no one seems to be familiar with it...I don't know...

i had 7 teeth removed and the bone started to get thin under the second to last one on the lower left basically because i put off getting the posts put in ( yes i am a d u m b a s s ) - i had to go back for the bone graph and it wasnt fun. have them do it all at once - thinning bone in the jaw is actually really painful. i let mine go till it exposed the nerves and then it was like being hit in the face with a hammer each time i took a breath.
dont wait on it - it will only get more expensive to fix the worse it gets.
