Please help sonogram fears
Hello, My last period was febuary 23rd. I calculated to be 7 weeks pregnant this week since my last period. I went to get my sonogram done today and the woman told me that i must be 5 weeks. I dont understand the terms. Do they go by date of conception? if that is the case then I am 5 weeks. Or do they go by gestational stage? IM so confused and scared. There is nothing in the sac. if someone can calculat this for me. I tried calling them back but they had closed due to a delivery. At five weeks did you see anything? I really appreciate your answers!

when I was about 5 weeks all that they saw was a sac. At my last visit earlier this week, we saw the heartbeat , fetal pole and the sack getting bigger.

they usually go by the date of your last period. At 5 weeks you can't see much, only a sac. At seven weeks you could possibly see a heartbeat. What did you see on the sono?

Maybe you ovulated very late in your cycle? Do you know when you O'd? Were you charting?

I agree, dont worry, I 'm sure it was just a miscalculation. They usually go by your last period.
Maybe you are just 5 weeks, and at 5 weeks, you really wont see much, just a black dot.

I also think that possibly you ovulated late. Not everyone ovulates on day 14, so there's a good chance you ovulated late!

just a sac nothing else! Im not sure why they calculated me at 7 weeks, when im only at five. I guess everyone does it differently. I calculated my due date online.

No I dont know when i exactly ovulated but the doc did say, that she saw a cyst on my right ovaryl. She said that was probably the ovary that dropped the egg. geeez She was in such a rush this doctor, we should of asked her all these questions. I think im just paranoid, I just want everything to okay.

Usually when the doctor or technician tells you that you are 5 weeks, it is from your LMP (last menstral period).

I also had a cyst on my ovary - they say it happens, next time I had a sonogram it had gone away.
I know you are nervous. But start writing down your questions - you can always call your office (I did it all the time in the beginning) or save them for your next appt.

This is almost exactly what happened to me. they didn't see anything in the sac at my first appointment. I have attached the link. Now, I am 9w1d (but by my calculations, I would be 10 and a half weeks).

I had to go at 5 weeks because I was spotting. I still have the sonogram of Maddie's empty sac.

Yes, when I went back in one week, my bean was there, and he said that I was a week further along than he previously thought (so, instead of me being over 2 weeks behind, I was only 1 week behind).
I went again on this past Wednesday because of something else, and that is when I saw the heart beating.
I'm sure everything will be OK with you! You can go back in a week for piece of mind, or wait like a week and a half or even two weeks, and you will really see a little bean and they will be able to detect a heart rate.
