Please help me to be supportive

My sister has PCOS. She had IVF and got pregnant the first time with my nephew who is now 2 y/o.

She was implanted twice this year, neither worked. She is going through another round right now and will be implanted with 2 eggs this time. This may be the last time she can do this.

I never know how to react when it doesn't work. She is very laid back about it, but I know she is crushed everytime.

I am praying for the best this time, but preparing for the worst.

Any tips/suggestions?

i think just being there for her is great. There's probably no right or wrong thing to say, but I am sure she really appreciates you just being there to listen and give support.

I agree. I feel like my sister is really there for me and all she really does is listen to me. She doesn't tell me it will happen or that when it's meant to be it will be. She just listens. And it means the world to me.

I totally agree. Just be there for her and to listen- you dont need to say things like "it will happen for you next time" and stuff like that. Just say I'm here for you and for whatever you need. It will mean the world to her, I'm sure.

i gotta agree with what the rest of the girls said... just let her know that you are there for her whenever she needs you... that would mean more to me than you trying to comfort me...

Re: Please help me to be supportive

I agree with the advice of being there to listen. I know from experiencing a very unique road myself, that there's very little anyone could say- especially those who have not experienced something similar.

I mostly got annoyed by comments that were made thoughtlessly, but with good intentions Chat Icon One person actually told me it wasn't the worst thing in the world. I had a loss at 17.5 weeks. To ME, that was the WORST thing!! Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm not saying that you would say something like that- just that sometimes it's best just to be a shoulder to lean on.

I have friends who also felt so awkward when everything was going on that they didn't call at all. Ever. They just emailed or texted to make sure I was still alive Chat Icon Being there for her is so important and it seems like you care about her so much!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
