Please help me decide on which brand of Baby Bottles to get..
Hi,
Well, I had thrown all of Ava's Dr. Browns bottles away a while ago before this whole BPA scare came out. I am now preggo again and looking to buy new bottles. In light of the BPA, I don't know which ones to get, Glass or Poly whatever... The mgr of BRU told me that this month it came out that BPA is only bad if Microwaved. Anyway, why take the chance. My big question is what brand??
We were going to go with DR. Browns again but are sick of cleanign all the parts. Now I am considering Advent or Playtex. And there is also another one Sassy Nam, I think its called.
Can anyone recommend a brand second to Dr. Browns. Ava never had colic (don't knwo if she would have), but I would like something close to DR. Browsn in terms of preventing colic, but with not so many parts to clean.
Thank you so much, Denise

What about Born Free? I don't know much about them, but they are BPA free. We use the Doc Browns BPA free ones and we're happy despite the amt of washing we do! Good luck.

I use the playtex drop-ins and DD has no problem with them. We switched from Avent and Dr. Browns after the BPA issue and she actually did better with playtex.

My 1st suggestion is Playtex Drop Ins (although they are not very environmentally friendly with the added waste and they are more $ overall having to buy liners) #2 would be Born Free
(We use Dr.Browns Polycarbonate dd was used to them by the time the BPA thing came out so I just traded the reg. ones out to those)

I got the Playtex Drop Ins for K, but she hated them.... The flow was way too fast (AND STILL IS) with the first level nipple.
I have the BF's for her which I think give her NO issue with gas, and I love them.... EZ cleaning, unlike the Dr. Brown's, and BPA free!

Re: Please help me decide on which brand of Baby Bottles to get..
I'm in the same boat. I used Avent with DD#1 before the BPA concerns were known. I pitched them and plan on using glass to start. I will then switch over to Born Free or something else non BPA when she is able to hold/throw them. DD#1 was colicky and I tried numerous bottles, nothing really made a difference. I also EBF in the beginning and thought that may be an issue as well...it wasn't.
Even through the FDA recently declared BPA "safe", they do admit that there are other concerns/unknowns ( linking the chemical to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease) that need to be further investigated.
I never microwave any plastic for myself and/or baby. I try to use glass where I can, and now toss anything that could contain BPA. I'm a little neurotic when it comes to that...

I used the avent drop ins, and will use these again (or the paytex drop ins if the baby doesnt like these). I LOVE the convenience of the drop ins.

Re: Please help me decide on which brand of Baby Bottles to get..
My daughter was colic and I use the born free bottles and i LOVE them! Ive never used the dr. browns, but the Born Free bottles have this part inside that pulls apart so its two pieces to clean plus the nipple and the cap per bottle. If that is too much..I also suggest the avent bottles, we also use those ( i only have those in the 4oz and the born free is 9oz.) I love both of them. I've heard that as long as the avent bottles don't have the arrows with the number 7 inside it should be fine. My avents don't have anything on the bottom though. Playtex drop ins are also very convenient but i just hated wasting the liners. HTH
