Please help!! 6 mon old ??

DD is so sick this week, was at the dr wed for 103 fever bad cough/runny nose. my dr said if she has a fever to use infant tylenol but when fever goes away pretty much just deal w/ cough/cold, it will pass. on wed her lungs /ears were clear. Well I am literally going crazy now i feel awful she is sleeping and not 30 seconds go by w/out her coughing (deep long coughs) well my question is, did or do u give dc any meds for this @ around 6 months?? my husband will be coming home from wk in about an hour so if u can recommend something to dry her up and help this cough,he could pick it up.her nose is just a runny mess too!! TY so much!!

They pulled all OTC meds for children under 4 off the shelves.....

There is a medication (Nasal decongestant & cough suppressant) that you can get by prescription for infants over the age of 6 months....

Generally though most peds wont give them anything at this age...

What I do is get the "Little Noses" saline drops ,and put a few drops in dc's nose let it sit a minute then use the boogy sucker to clear it all out !! It usually takes a day ,but it helps alot !!!

Ty for ur response Heather. I just feel awful for her!! I hope i can sleep tonight, we just keep checking on her!! I had no idea that they pulled otc drugs for infants/toddlers. thanks again

My DD was dealing with this a couple of weeks ago too and she is 6 months. We made sure her humidifier was on full blast in her room, put a pillow underneath her mattress so it would be a decent incline and therefore she would be able to breathe, we also used the saline drops and the nasal aspiration throughout the day and right before bed. Unfortunately there isn't much more you can do. Tylenol should do it for fever. If it doesn't bring it down, you can give her Motrin now that she is 6 months old. It works great! Hope she feels better soon!!
