Please explain why this Is happening
A huge pet peeve of mine , squeaky floors. We have been in this house for 6 years. No squeaky floors. Over the past 6 months the Floors are now creaky all over the house
It's driving me insane and I want to move out. Seriously I want a new house right now. But any idea as to why this would happen so quickly/ suddenly?
I have 7&8'yo's, is it because of them? I'll need them to get out of my house

No clue as to why but I feel the pain! Our home is a historical one so u can imagine the squeakiness we experience, lol!! Well except the areas where there's tile.

I heard that if you put baby powder on your squeaky wood floor areas, it helps stop it. But I haven't tried it.

Mine squeak more in the humidity. Before we had central air it was bad! It's a little better with the air now. Some spots are just always squeaky though. Is it wood floors? Or plywood squeaking under the carpet? You can fix it with screws if it's plywood.

Squeaky floors are primarily due to wood rubbing against other wood. Plywood flooring moving against the floor joists, for example. Changes in humidity and temperature are big factors. Even if it didn't happen for the last 6 years, each change in season loosened the screws or nails, or warped the wood just a little bit more until there was enough movement to make noises.
What type of floor covering do you have where it is squeaking? Carpet, tile, hardwood?
Usually, the two methods to stop the squeaking is to either stop the wood from moving by gluing, nailing or screwing the flooring down better, or by lubricating the wood with dry powder.
Can you get to the flooring from underneath? If you have an unfinished basement for example, it greatly increases the methods you can try.

We just had some squeaks repaired. It was happening because some of the screws holding the underlay (plywood planking) had come loose or come out all together. Guy pulled up the floor and put a bunch of new screws down.
