Please explain Groupon
I have see people post the deals they got on Groupon. But how does it work? I have see the one day deal and with in a few days later it pops back up on the side as a deal. I would love to take advantage of these great deals. TIA Do they take paypal?

Re: Please explain Groupon
BEST. THING. EVER.
Is that a good enough explanation for you?
Seriously, though--it's great. The place offering the deal offers it because they know they will get a huge influx of buyers, so they can offer it at a cheaper price.
I have bought so many great things from Groupon. I have my eye on a 2-night retreat up in the mountains of NC...$175 for two nights which includes breakfast AND a $50 credit for dinner!
ETA: I don't think they take Paypal.

Re: Please explain Groupon
It's a mix between group and coupon. Basically they offer a "deal" but it isnt actually available unless a specified number of people take advantage of that deal. the deal is usually for 1/2 off whatever it is.
We buy lots of Groupons and have never had a problem. There is a Groupon iphone app.

Re: Please explain Groupon
Love it... Like everyone said, a deal is presented and if enough people purchase it then the deal is on. If not, you are not charged for the purchase. I'm in Chicago and I haven't seen that happen in over a year when the site first started. The deals are almost always on.
It's a great way to try restaurants and get deals on services - spa, hair, car washes, on and on.

Re: Please explain Groupon
Do you only get a confirmation email once the offer reaches the limit of people buying? I ordered two things today, and didn't receive confirmation emails for either.

Re: Please explain Groupon
I really like groupon. I got a photo shoot w a pretty good photographer for 50 bucks-- includes shoot plus 2 5x7 and 1 8x10. I also got a smile book photo album (posted about it here) for 15 bucks and they are usually much more expensive.

Re: Please explain Groupon
I've gotten great stuff...and their customer service is awesome.
Complained about one restaurant I had bought a groupon from that I was unable to use and they refunded my money for it, no questions asked!

You know I find the companies who sell through this service will often be so overwhelmed by calls, that their phone will be busy, but someone representing them is chatting it up in the comments/forum area of that offer.
I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. They really get overwhelmed. I payed for a service and was told they are all booked, try after the holidays. Its okay I'm in no rush, but you know if would have sucked if I was.
