playtex sippy cup?
I just got a 2 pack of the playtex starter sippy cups. I gave it to DD for the first time tonight with just a tiny bit of water. She loved to play with it and chew on it. When DH came home and I told him she was chewing on it he said the directions (which he read and then threw out before showing me ) said to NOT let them chew on it. How in the world do I not let a teething 8 month old chew on something like that?! How do you get them to understand that they're supposed to drink from it? I tried to tilt it towards her mouth a little and when she got the water she made a face, like what IS this mommy?!

Re: playtex sippy cup?
My DD used to chew on hers a little too. I wouldn't worry unless you see that the spout is breaking/cracking. As you said, with an 8 month old, it's kind of unavoidable.
Since she isn't taking to the water too well, why not try a little milk and see if she'll take to that. Worth a try.
In my experience though, my DD "played" with the sippy for a few months before drinking from it. She started to drink from it at about 10 months and then we had her transitioned off the bottle and to the sippy by 11.5 months. Don't get discouraged.

It took my DD a while to learn to drink from it. I don't think its so bad if she bites on it as long as no pieces get bitten off. She has to get used to it.
