plastic fears
Hi,is it just me or has anyone else ever thought of this.All th baby bottles that we heat up with formula or the plastic sippy cups thats kids drink out of day after day.Do you thiink this could cause autism,or other problems down th e road???
I know i have heard that you should never microwave plastic due to the chemicals it can release when heated.It just got me wondering. Because I was not able to breast feed and i fed my little guy formula from a heated bottle.Thank god he is absolutely fine.But i was just curious about other mom's thought's.I hope i dont scare anyone.

i've never heated up the bottles in the microwave, either, but not sure if it matters, 'cuz leaching occurs anyway without the heat...
thinking of switching to stainless steel... so far i've see the foogo (made by thermos) and kleen kanteen. don't know anybody personally who has used these products though.
i'd like a review first before trying them out---they're

i think plastic is scary, too. but, i also need to live with some level of convenience. i plan to use glass bottles.

Im bfing and the what to expect the first year book-- says glass bottles are not good for BM b/c the WBCs' stick to the bottle and baby doesnt get. I been trying to use the drop ins when i do give bottle, but my DH likes the Dr. browns and occasionally we us medela bottles, if shes really screaming and wants right that moment. Either way we dont put in microwave.

It is scary. I never heat in the micro and I switched to Born Free, which are the BPA free plastic bottles. I'm sure they are not perfect either, but they are supposedly better than the other plastic bottles. But who knows?

My sister just asked me if i knew where the plastic nipples are made.I dont know but am pretty sure that they are made in china.I am going to check it out.
(side note) I googled american made toys and came up with some great companies with amazeing products.It's good to know since the U.S.A has very strict guidelines on safety

Of course you have to look out for you child and protect them from whatever you can, but on the other hand, you cannot live in a bubble.
I use Avent and VentAires, I do pop them in the micro from time to time and I also use my dishwasher. Not one of those bottles have actually been recalled and there has been no concreate evidence that they do cause damage. Plenty of babies have used them and are just fine. I feel that broken glass is a known risk, and all of the plastic bottle fears are speculative.
