Plainedge SD- Tell me about it

I really know nothing about it. How are the schools? How does it stack up against Massapequa and some of the other surrounding SDs?

it is a great SD, my sister bought her house there, taxes are expensive but i guess most places in LI are.

great SD - im from the area (grew up in seaford, DH in wantagh)

i would take Plainedge over Bellmore.

I live in this district, don't have any kids so can't say much but my neighbors do, and they all seem to like it

I like the area because im right off 107 and can get to sunrise or southern state very fast and the 135 is very close as well

Plainedge is a very desirable SD. That is why we bought here... we were looking in Plainedge, Wantagh and Seaford. Taxes are a little higher than the the others, but when I researched it when we bought our home, it was b/c of the schools.

we don't have kids yet, so I can't say firsthand, but my friend grew up there and loved it and said they were great. We love living in the area and are really happy that is where we bought. As PP said, close to SSP, 135 and can get to sunrise quickly! Love it!

I have a lot of friends who graduated from there and have nothing but great things to say.

My sister used to sub there, she really liked it.

A close friend is a social studies teacher in the high school (and a graduate!) and he loves it there!

I live just north in Plainview/Bethapge area and I like the Plainedge school district. DH cousins went through it and loved it they said there were a lot of enrichment classes and sports and the teachers were really supportive for extra help etc.

Plainedge High School grad over here!!.........Class of 1993! Great school, great teachers, nothing bad to say about the district back when I was student.

I graduated from Plainedge but wouldn't raise my own kids in the district.

I turned out fine but I don't think the teachers were happy and it reflected on their teaching style (granted, they were fighting over their contracts for two years I was there, refusing to write college recommendations, wearing t-shirts black shirts everyday etc.). I graduated in 1998 and hope that things have changed. I do remember a few years back hearing that the budget hadn't passed.

I took all the AP classes that the HS offered but I didn't have the same opportunities in comparison to what friends in other districts were offered.

I know my opinion is against what others have said but I figured I'd add my opinion.
