Placenta Previa question---probably very stupid

what causes it? I was wonder if sitting in a chair all day in an upright position could cause that? (stupid i know) I was just curious if bring in that one position most of the day could cause the placenta to move over the cervix like that...

I'm sure there are multiple causes , but my OB did tell me (if I recall correctly)that sometimes it is more prevelant with repeat c-sections because the embryo looks for a place to burrow and due to scar tissue from a previous C, sometimes the spot where it implants is not the optimum place (or something along those lines)

Ironically my DS was a c-section ( no previa) but my 2 subsequent pregnancies were previa pregnancies..DD did not resolve itself and current PG did Chat Icon

Thanks for answering! I had a very low placenta with DD, right next to the cervix but never covered but never moved either. It was close to marginal. This one is complete, because i had a low-lying placenta with DD and it never moved, does that mean anything for this pregnancy? am i just prone to low placenta in pregnancy. I had a c-section with DD.

Not quite sure....

With DD, I started out as a full previa and pretty much at the last minute in the 9th month it is was considered basically low lying ( I bled pretty much the entire PG and was on modified bedrest throughout)...I was going to be a repeat c-section regardless , but either way he would have still wanted the c-section even if I was not a repeat...

This pregnancy started off as a partial previa and it moved early on and now is completely normal ( though I am a repeat c-section regardless)...

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to whether it moves or not...Maybe being prone to previa can be an anotomical thing Chat Icon
