Placenta Previa
Has anyone been diagnosed with this early in pregnancy? Did it move? Were you able to carry full term/deliver vaginally? I've known 2 women who had this, and both had a lot of complications. My mother is telling me she had it with both her pregnancies and that it all worked out fine and I'm worrying for no reason. So hopefully you ladies have some positive stories to share.

Placenta Previa
I was diagnosed with a low lying placenta at 20 weeks, not a complete previa. By 24 weeks, it moved up and out of the way. I don't know how far along you are, but if you are still pretty early, it may still move up and correct itself.

Re: Placenta Previa
At 12 weeks, it appeared as though I had a partial previa. She said they do not put you on any restrictions until 20 weeks (or if you have bleeding) since most of them time, the placenta moves away from the cervix as your uterus expands (Fingers crossed!)

Placenta Previa
Thanks! I'm only 13 weeks, but currently she is telling me no intercourse. My bladder wasn't full enough during my sono and they couldn't do it internally bc of the placenta. So it really started to worry me. I'm really just hoping it moves on it's own.

Re: Placenta Previa
I had it with both pregnancies in the early stages and it went away by my 10 or 12 week appointment. I think it's pretty common and not as dangerous in the early stages when things are still forming and shifting all over the place

Re: Placenta Previa
I have it. It was noted early on, but wasn't a concern. At 20 weeks, my doctor addressed it with me, but said 80% of the time it moves. Unfortunately, mine is a complete previa and has never moved at all. I was closely monitored and thank God I have not had any of the issues many women have with it. I was able to work up until 33 weeks pregnant and then my dr made me stop as I'm a teacher in the city and she didn't want me standing all day or commuting so far. I'm on modified bed rest- I can still run a couple of errands each day or go out to dinner, just not overdo. No lifting and no sex (since 28 weeks!). It's basically precautionary as the most weight is on the placenta at this point, so they want you off your feet. I was in the same boat as you (well, at 20 weeks) and was in a panic that this meant the worst case scenario, but it doesn't always! And you still have a good amount of odds that it WILL move. I'm scheduled for a C-section at 37 weeks because they won't let you go beyond 37 weeks with a previa. Hope that all helps- please feel free to contact me anytime with questions. :) Good luck! I hope it moves for you!!

Thanks!! I am just praying it moves- but it makes me feel better to hear of cases where it didn't but everything is still fine. One of my friends ended up needing an emergency c-section at 30 weeks, and a coworker ended up on bed rest the entire 3rd trimester. My main concern is that it's a complete previa, so she explained that in a partial it's very common that it will fix itself, but less common when the whole birth canal is blocked.

I have the complete. It does stink, but hopefully if it doesn't move you won't have any complications! Best of luck!!

Re: Placenta Previa
With my first pregnancy, I had a low lying placenta. Since it wasn't Previa, I wasn't put on any restrictions. They did an extra sono at around 24 weeks and it had moved up. Delivered vaginally, no issues
My second pregnancy I found out at 12 weeks I had partial Placenta Previa. I was just put on a few restrictions such as no sex, exercise, no heavy lifting. My placenta moved at around 24 weeks. Delivered vaginally, no issues
I guess I will find out in a few weeks if I have this issue again. Seems like I'm more prone to this issue.

Re: Placenta Previa
i had it with my 1st and was put on pelvic bed rest for 2 months.
It moved on its own. They say 95% of them correct themselves.

Re: Placenta Previa
I had it with my last pregnancy and this one. Both were diagnosed at 12/13 weeks and were completely corrected by 20 weeks. I think more complications come from having it at the end of pregnancy. The doctor put me on pelvic bed rest and I was told to watch for any bleeding.
