photo shoot - wwyd
I have been talking to DH about doing a newborn photoshoot and he's interested but when he was looking at the photos I was showing him he likes the idea of first birthday or christmas or some other time other than newborn.
If your DH was only interested in spending the money on photos once in the first year would you do the newborn or would you wait?
I am starting to like the smiley baby photos and the cake smash ones a little more than the sleepy ones...
Thoughts?

I was back and forth with it too. I decided to do newborn because I feel like it's such a short time in the baby's life that it looks like that and I doubt myself or anyone else in my family is going to be able to capture those images like a pro will.
The cake smash and all of that is super cute too but I feel like if I can't do it, I can take the LO to Picture People or something to have it done and it's far less money. Or, my brother just got a fancy pants camera and by then he should be able to know how to use it!

I am not sure if I am doing a newborn shoot. I am not crazy about the pics that are popular now. I will definitely have some professional pics when my LO is a not a new born anymore.

We are going back and forth about this too. I love the newborn shots, but do think it's all a lot of money, and I'm not sure we 'need' so many newborn pics -- I think I would be happy with fewer (edited) photos to choose from.
DH doesn't like the idea of taking the baby to a studio when she is just born, but thinks that if we are going to spend a lot of money on professional shots it should be done in a studio to get the best pics, so he would definitely prefer to do a shoot when she's a little older. He's also not a huge of fan of the baby in 'strange' places shots (baskets, etc.), whereas I think it's all adorable!
Since I have seriously put off booking anything it looks like we're headed toward an older shoot.

As a BTDT..... seriously... you forget SO quick how teeny and squishy they are at that age. They are only like that for such a short short short time and it is INSANE how fast it goes. One day you wake up and they are just completely different......

We're thinking of holding off until Christmas. The baby will be 5 months by then. My mother has GREAT shots of my brothers and I around 3 months, still small but with big smiles on our faces. I would love something similar.

i plan on doing both. the cake smash ones are sooo adroable! but the newborn ones are too.
maybe someone can buy you a newborn shoot as a shower gift? that way you can have both, but only pay for one out of pocket.

ITA, and honestly, you can do a $7.99 package first photo shoot and Target and they'll do a cake smash for you if you don't want to spend the money. I absolutely treasure my son's NB photos. I wouldn't have changed that for the world!!!
