Pharmacist messed up dd prescription

I'm so annoyed. DD was put on augmentin for an ear infection. I went to give it to her today (day 6) and I didn't have enough (which I am supposed to have enough for 10 days). I had dh call the dr who contacted the pharmacy. When the dr called back dh she told him that the pharmacist read the script wrong and wrote out the wrong amt for us ( the medicine bottle says to give 1 1/2 tsp two times a day and it is only supposed to be 1 tsp twice a day). The dr said it shouldn't harm her but I feel like this is a big mistake to make. If you cant read the damn script thenn call the dr to confirm, dont just guess. She has had nonstop diarrhea and is so hyper lately. Wondering if this has anything to do with it.

I would be furious! That is horrible. I'm glad your dd is ok but this is so frightening.

I would make a big stink about it. I had that happen when ds son was an infant. Luckily I noticed before I gave it to him. They still didn't give you enough medication. If they thought she she should be taking 1 1/2 you should have had enough meds for the 10 days. Ive had that happen a few times also. Wrong on all counts. Hope she feels better. Was this a cvs by any chance?

I would definitely make a BIG stink at the pharmacy.

As far as the side effects, the poop imo is definitely from the medicine, but she would have had it whether on the right amount or not. Try giving her yogurt, bananas, rice. if she doesn't like yogurt then buy Florastor. Usually its behind the pharmacy counters but it doesn't need a prescription. It's probiotics fpr kids. I just finished a round of Augmentin with DS and made sure he had a pack every day/other day (you can put it in water or juice) But limit her intake of breads because you don't want her getting an over abundance of yeast in her system.

CVS last year gave my DS wrong steroids and believe me I raised hell. Thank God I read the labels before ( I work in medical field and always double check others).
I spoke with girls menager and called the corp. Office to make sure this won't happen again.

Last year pharmacy in NJ gave kids instead of fluoride vitamins- breast cancer pills!!!
