Did anyone borrow from family to help purchase their first home?

luckily we didn't have to. I always fell funny borrowing $$$ from family/friends. It can sometimes get hairy.

We didn't but I think it really depends on the relationship you have with the person you'd be borrowing the money from. If you're going to borrow money make sure there are clear agreed upon guidelines for how you're going to pay it back.

My Dad always got loans from my grandpa to do work on the house
I think my Dad would do the same for me- he has even offered to put my name on his account to make it look like I have alot of money- he did that for my brother
however- I would not ask anyone other then my Dad or my inlaws

we borrowed from my parents to buy our first house but paid them back asap!
for the second house we used wedding money and my bonus money
but the only people we would borrow from is my parents.

My SIL borrowed money from us. There was some tension knowing she owed us so much money, but DH could not say no to his sister.

It would definately be from my parents, and hopefully we could pay them back fairly quickly with my bonus.
I just feel weird asking them and don't want to put them in a weird spot if they don't have it.
