Permits for our dormer were approved!!
YAY!! We're def. going to overlap with construction and bringing home baby (I'm due in less than 8 wks) but at least I know we're getting going soon (if not I'm going to scream).

Congrats! I'm glad that your plans were approved. Hopefully, the work will start soon. My sister had a dormer being done on her house when she was in her 9th month of pregnancy with her 3rd. It wasn't done til after her son was born. It was a little difficult for a while, but it was done quickly and then she had a beautiful, big house for her family. Good luck to you!

How long did it take to get your permit? What type of work are you getting done and will you be living there during it?
We are waiting for our permits to be approved by the Town of Hempstead. The contractor seems to believe that we will be able to start demo the first week of October. I have the POD coming next week.
Cannot wait

Hey Scott - we're TOH too
It took about 7 wks total - at 5 wks the permits were in objections (which was annoying b/c the only issue was they didn't have copies of COs for parts of the house and they apparently don't look up anything anymore - that was resolved within a day, but then it was resubmitted)
We have a rear dormer - doing a front dormer and adding a porch. We're going to (try) to live on the first floor. If it gets horrible, we'll move into my mom's basement or ILs house - but honestly, I think we're better off here.

I called last week and supposedly our plans were being reviewed by the last person. It is now week 3 I think that we have been waiting.
I cannot wait to watch the demo. We will not be able to live in our house. We are doing basically the entire house.
