Has anyone been on one?
We are looking to tour Italy and I have heard they are "the best".
Please give feed back on Perillo and also recommend your Italian Tour TIA

Re: Perillo Tours?
I do not have any experince with Perillo tours but I did use Trafalgar twice when I went to Europe and they were fantastic.

Re: Perillo Tours?
There are mixed reviews about Perillo. You should check several tour companies and compare. I know that families members took a tour with Perillo and were put in a hotel in the outskirts of Venice (in Mestre) rather than in Venice itself. Trafalgar I've heard is very good. I've also heard that Globus is very good and on the higher end is Tauck. I would check out where the hotels are located in each city before you book your tour with Perillo (as well as any other tour operator recommended).
Good luck!

Re: Perillo Tours?
i replied on your other post as well....i have friends that used Perillo and loved it! I have friends that used Globus and Contiki Tours (if you are 35 years and under) and loved both of them as well!
We wound up doing it on our own and although we probably didn't get the full feel or stories or saw everything we should have, it still all worked out and we had a wonderful time. hope it all works out for you!

Re: Perillo Tours?
My parents did Perillo the first time they went and had a good time, when we went with them a few years later we did Globus..I had a great time on that trip, i would recommend them definitely..the only thing with whatever company you pick, i think the people on the tour help make your experience..We had so much fun on our tour bus bc of the guide and people..I did a tour in Ireland and the people def weren't like my italy group and didnt enjoy it as much,,hth

Re: Perillo Tours?
My parents, sister and I went on a Perillo tour to Italy in 2006. I wouldn't recommend it. The hotels except for the last 2 days in Venice were crappy and far away from the main part of the cities. We spent a whole day traveling on a bus. The food was not good and we we were always eating in these big restaurants that seemed to cater to tour companies. We felt like we never spent very long in one museum or site. The whole thing felt cheap and rushed.
We loved Italy and had a great time on our 2 free days. I recommend you travel on your own. It will probably come out to the same price and you will have much more freedom. You also won't have to deal with "bus call times" and traveling with 40 other people who are old enough to be your grandparents (not that there's anything wrong with that..)
