Pepper Spray- Breakfast of Champions?
Today one of my students (sixth grader) decided to be funny and go into another student's bag. He found and took her pepper spray, and thinking it was some kind of candy, sprayed it in his mouth.
Bad move. He barely made it to the trash can to throw up, got some on the floor, and then on his way to the bathroom had to stop to puke some more in the water fountain! I was so disgusted and found it hard to feel bad for him. 
But I  a little too, once I saw that he was ok. I told him never to put anything in his mouth unless he'd read the label, but he's one of those kids who likes to do wacky things, so he may have done it anyway.

No- I didn't even bring it up to her, since it was in her backpack. I bet that if I called her mom, she'd tell me that she gave the kid the pepper spray, and then what would I say? If I lived in that neighborhood I might do the same thing for my child. I don't worry about the kid using on others for fun, luckily.
