People who know about nails and manicures
I have silk wraps and LOVE them.
The place I normally go to does the fill-ins by placing a new piece of silk over my nails w/ glue and buffing them down.
Yesterday I went somewhere else for the first time in an emergency, and they used powder and glue. When I said the place I normally go to uses a new piece of silk to fill in, they said that's snot necessary and gave me a speech about how their way is better to keep my business, of course.
So, which way is the RIGHT way? Personally, I like when they use a new piece of silk.

I have silk wraps and they've been doing my fill-ins the way your new place does them (without silk). I can't complain. My nails look great and they've held up really well.

Re: People who know about nails and manicures
Yesterday's method sounds like a fill-in When I used to get silk tips they would use a new piece of silk if I were asking for silk tips. If I were paying for silk tips, I'd prefer they remove the old tips and use new silk pieces.

Hmm, so really the place I normally goes to gives me tips?
It's frustrating how different places of their own technique!

Opps I forgot to add the tips, the most important part
You are paying for a service and if you're happier when you receive new silk pieces then I would insisit on it. Some places will push a method that is cost effective for them. KWIM?

yea, thanks for the advice- I did inquire about this and they said to put on new silk pieces, it would cost more money. They were already charging me 30, which is more than my normal place- so I already felt like it was pricey!!! So, I just let it go for that one time, but I will always go to my original place in the future!
(She also made my nails much shorter )I'm not a fan of long gaudy nails, but these are just too short. When you look at my hands from my palms, you can't see any of my nails peeking at the top of my fingers- so yea, that's how short she made them)

Re: People who know about nails and manicures
I did nails for years and what the new place did is how we all did silk fill ins. We would only put new silk on a new set or a back fill. It is not necessary to put new silk on everytime.

Thanks. So why do they do this? It seems like it would cost them more to use new silk each time.
