People who are good with computers or work in IT
I was at my new job and wanted to check my aol mail and I signed on quickly and signed off. Then a little while later I went on again to see if the email came in and the site was blocked. Does this mean they are spying on me? (I'm home for lunch now).

Prolly. Or it's just a really big coincidence.
How do you know the site was 'blocked'. Did it just not coming up, or did you get a message saying that the site is blocked? It could have just been down.
I'd go for they're watching.

There are programs installed on your network that track this stuff. I'm actually surprised that you got on once. My company blocks all of those websites and does random audits.
I doubt they are watching you in general.

DH says that it doesn't work like that-- and if anything, they set a time limit for how long employees can go on certain sites, i.e. at DH's job, he can only be on a sports site for an hour in total per day. So, probably what happened was there was a glitch in the software-- either AOL should be blocked, or the time did not register correctly.
If you need another site to check your aol mail-- try mail2web.com. I use it to check my earthlink and my mom can use it to check her OptOnline. That probably would not be blocked because your employer wouldn't be aware of it.
