Pennsylvania Question
Anyone know of any affordable, nice towns located near Philadelphia? DH is looking for jobs there and we would like to be close to Philidelphia with a good school district.

I have friends in Phoenixville who really love that area - they just bought a house - but I don't know much about the area myself.

DH has family in West Chester. Good neighborhood and schools about 45 min from Philly. I think it is fairly afforable.

My BIL & SIL live in Plymouth Meeting. I think it is like 15-20 minutes outside of Philly (I'm not sure in which direction). They absolutely love it. They bought there house for MUCH less than what we paid on LI & their property taxes are 1/4 of what ours are!

My family lives in Bucks County..lots of nice towns there. I think it's about 45 mins from Philly. The schools are great, housing is afforadable, it's developed and new developments, stores, mini-malls are going up all the time. That's where DH and I plan on moving in a few years.

I live in the Philly 'burbs... the county closest to Philly is Montgomery County. There are some really nice areas there - Abington is one of the best, as is Huntingdon Valley, and they both have great schools. The very best school district is Lower Merion, which is also located in Montgomery County, but more West, which consists of the main line. GORGEOUS, gorgeous areas that are equally close to the city, but very, very expensive.
Further out are Chester County, which is Southwest, and Bucks, which is way North of the city - commute to the city is upwards of 45mins-1hour. There are some truly lovely parts of Bucks County, including New Hope, Dolyestown, etc. But, they can be expensive.
I have a friend who lives in Downingtown, which is part of Chester County, which is by far more affordable, a lot of new construction, and a great school district, but again, pretty far from downtown.
I have a phenomenal realtor who has lived in this area her whole life - I can give you her name and number.

I live in Levittown PA; its about 45 min from philly. We are located right near the R7 rail line via SEPTA which goes right into the Philly area.
There's also: Yardley, Langhorne, Newtown, Bensalem that are nice areas with good school districts.
Im in the Bristol School District which is OK; Pennsbury School District is rated the highest.

My sister lives in Bucks County also. She lives in Langhorne right by sesame place. Her kids attend Council Rock school district (i think it's called). I love the area it's really nice.
