Pediatrician?
When do you start searching for a pediatrician?
Do you interview them, or is it trial and error until you find someone you like?

I am 36 weeks and finally got around to calling the pediatrician I want to use. He came highly recommended by several people so I was fine with not meeting him. When I called, the receptionist told me to make an apt to meet the dr next Saturday. So that's what we're doing. (Dr. Shwartz in Setauket)

I'm 30 weeks today and we started interviewing pediatricians a few weeks ago. We've been to 4 different offices so far. We have one more doc to see in a couple of weeks. We'll see how we like that practice and then make our decision. I did have a list of prepared questions, but most docs have a "speech" prepared and then ask if you have any additional questions.

i used to work for a pediatrician in Hunt.. he is so wonderful so i will be using him... i got lucky..

I'm 36 weeks and just started asking around for some reccomendations. A few people suggested the same dr (Dr. Blinderman in Hewlett) so I'm going to meet with him on Wed. Hopefully we'll like him and that will be one more thing to cross off the list!

I believe I was 32 weeks when I called the office of the pediatrician that we want to use. They actually had us come in so the Dr. could meet us and have a sit down with us.

We're using Dr. Blinderman. When DH and I closed on our house, the previous owners recommended him before we even got pregnant. Also, one of DH's colleagues is a pediatrician and she used to go to Dr. Blinderman when she was a child. We interviewed him a couple weeks ago and we really liked him. I just wish he had a more defined separation between the sick area and the well area in the waiting room.

I interviewed my pediatrician around 37 weeks. Definately interview them b/c you will be deoending on them a lot so you want to feel comfortable with them and also want to know that they have the same or similiar parenting styles that you do.
