PCOS Symtoms
Quick question, last year I found out that I have PCOS, I also have an underactive thyroid (that is now under control). In the last four years I have gained over 25 pounds. I have read online that it could be caused by the PCOS. Has anyone else experienced weight gain (ex. in my chest/stomach area)? And if so, can you please share how you lost the weight? I cut down on eating, but it just seems like I am always bloated and gaining more weight.

Re: PCOS Symtoms
A combination of eating healthier (lots less processed food) and metformin have helped me to lose about 15 pounds in the last 4 months or so. I find that without the metformin it's like an uphill battle for me.

Re: PCOS Symtoms
Thank you so much for the information. My doctor put me on synthroid, I did lose about 10 pounds at first, but then it came back on. I will talk to my doctor about the metforim, and of course I will try to eat healthier/exercise. Thank you once again

Re: PCOS Symtoms
I also have Hypothyroid and PCOS and I am pre-diabetic. I also take synthroid and metformin. I have been told (and also read about it) that metformin helps lower your blood sugars which in turn can have a positive effect on your ovulation. It is somewhat connected...So really metformin is to help control and slow the onset of diabetes and ALSO in turn helps with PCOS.
O Also I lost weight with Jazzercise! LOVE it!!! I lost about 15 lbs in 3 months. Joining and going atleast 2x/wk helped cut back on snacking....the cravings were gone!!! GOOD LUCK
