PCOS Questions
So I went back to the doc today to get my blood results and everything is completely normal. On paper I DONT have PCOS and the only reason we know I have it is from the sonogram showing the classic string of pearl cysts.
So now we go back again next week and meet with my OB/GYN's in house fertility specialist to see what we can do to get me pregnant.
The doctor said today she didnt want to put me on Metformin b/c it wont do anything since my insulin levels are all completely normal.
Now I'm confused as to what we can do to get pregnant.
I feel like the normal courses of action for PCOS arent going to work since I have such a mild case and there might be more going on.

Re: PCOS Questions
I agree skip the ob get with a re, their main job is to get you pg. The RE will run more in depth testing than your ob office and also test dh for male factors.
My bloodwork was always borderline with pcos but my sono was always consistent with pcos , and I never ovulated on my own could go months without a period. I was not insulin resistant, however I was still diagnosed with pcos.
I did both metaformin and than clomid. Clomid was the key to getting me to ovulate and after three months along with an iui I was pg with dd.

Re: PCOS Questions
Yeah I meet w the RE next week. He works out of their office so its good I dont have to go somewhere seperate. I have tried Clomid, doesnt work for me i'm clomid resistant, I tried it with my ex husband, injections worked for me to produce follies and ovulate was just hoping with losing 35 pounds we might be able to be a little less invasive. Can't wait for next week to figure out a gameplan

Re: PCOS Questions
i disagree with the metformin. my blood came back as not insulin resistance, but overall metformin is still beneficial for lowering androgens produced by PCOS's wacky hormones levels. it sort of neutralizes a lot of what gets thrown off by PCOS. i didn't take it for my first three medicated cycles, but then we added it and it definitely didn't do any harm and i do believe it helped a bit as well. once i am done nursing i plan to go back on it even though i wont be TTC right away. its just another way to manage PCOS, as well as lower the risk of developing diabetes, which is also higher with PCOSers.
regardless, good luck!!

Re: PCOS Questions
I have PCOS and my insulin levels are normal. I sought out a RE to go on Metformin and was told it wouldn't help. I did Provera and then Clomid. It worked for me!
