Paying bills online question..

lets say a bill is due on the 20th of the month..u set it up so it will take out the money on the 19th..sometimes it takes 2-3 days for the bank to release money....would ur payment be considered late? im so confused..

I think you are suppose to set it up to pay 2 or 3 days before it's due- unless you are on the companies website- then you can do same day normally

example- if I pay a bill from my bank website- I do it 2 or 3 days before

if I pay a credit card on that companies website- I can do it same day

Yes, because the receiver goes by the date they receive it. My bank estimates 4 business days for the first time payment, though once I started paying online I noticed some have changed to 2 days. I usually give myself a few extra days before the due date, especially on critical payments like credit cards, just to be safe. And watch out for holidays, weekends, etc. If you paid a bill on line late Friday night it's probably not going to even be issued until this Tuesday because of the holiday today.

I use chase bill-pay.
they tell you when you set up the account how many days it takes the payment to get to the intended. You put in the due date and then chase sets the send by date....most of the bills I pay take 1 day to go from my acct to theirs.

Not sure how other banks are.

I do it the day before and I've never had a late payment.
