When did your LO start eating it... and this might be a stupid question but how do they eat it? Is it big enough for them to pick up like finger food or do you spoon feed them it?

I make with chicken broth and feed with a spoon. DD is 9 months and loves it. DS is 3.5 and still loves it.

DS never liked pastina because I just don't think he likes the consistency of things that small. I tried it a few times. Once with just butter and another time with melted cheese on top and spoon fed him, but no luck!

9 mos- I spoon fed- ds loved it with chicken broth and parm cheese, or butter and basil or tomato sauce

No, it's tiny, meant to be fed with a spoon. DD began enjoying it around 9 mos. I boil it in broth, with carrots, celery etc

My DD wasn't a fan. And it was so messy!!!! She likes ditalini because she can pick it up and tubetini is easier to spoon feed her.

We also cook in chicken broth. If you cook this way...not messy. If you want your child to eat independtly this isn't the food to choose

I mixed in DD's butternut squash around 9 months. She loved it at a time when she wasn't very into anything.

I actually made it that way. I guess DD likes to check out what's in her mouth so I ended up with little sticky stars everywhere!!

I mixed it into purees to give them a little texture. Fed with a spoon.
I still use it in soups or mixed with cheese and DD feeds herself with a spoon.

I did at 8 months and she hated it. Just tried it again with butter at 11 months and she wasn't a fan, and there are now little stars in every nook and cranny of her high chair! No more pastina for her! I tried spoon feeding her and giving it to her to pick up...I got a few bites into her.
ETA: She loves other pasta though.

My family makes it with butter, a tiny bit of milk, and a smidge of sugar. I still eat it that way as an adult! Lol

You can also cook it with egg and some parm cheese to get a little extra protein in there.

I haven't yet, but my ped said we could give it to DD. She's 8 months. When I do, I will mix it with a veggie.

I'm not Italian and never even heard of this until a few years ago and I totally don't get it. My Italian MIL brought it over and would feed it to DD. I tried making it for her and while it tastes fine and she liked it, it made a HUGE mess. I'd much rather feed her a different shaped pasta (it's all the same thing, right?) that would be 10 times easier to clean up.
